Systems

One integrated system for the whole facility.

Each system below is designed, installed and programmed by AE, and all of them report to the same control room screens.

Locking control

Allen-Bradley PLC panels built in our shop to drive every lock, motor and interlock.

For lock retrofits we install the Willo Wedge lock box, which mounts on the face of the existing door and frame so a cell can be converted without rebuilding the opening.

AE manufactures custom locking control systems. PLCs control the relays that energize door lock solenoids and motors, with interlocks and emergency release built into the logic.

We build on Rockwell Allen-Bradley ControlLogix and CompactLogix, and we also work on Omron and Emerson (formerly GE) PACSystems controllers already installed in your facility. Housing units run on remote PLC racks that talk to master control over Ethernet on fiber.

Touch screen control

AVEVA InTouch (Wonderware) screens for central control and housing unit control rooms.

The graphical screens are the eyes of the security system and the PLC program is the brain. AE designs and programs both.

We are an authorized Wonderware systems integrator, building on AVEVA InTouch HMI. Screens are laid out around your floor plans, with system takeover so central control can assume any housing unit.

IP video

Camera networks and video management, with call-up driven from the touch screen.

We build video systems on Genetec and Avigilon platforms, with cameras and storage sized to the facility.

AE designs and installs IP video systems where cameras switch automatically from touch screen graphics: open a door or answer an intercom and the right camera is already on the monitor.

Our installs include more than 300 IP cameras on one network at Eastman Youth Development Center and more than 150 at the Juvenile Justice Center in Nashville.

Intercom and paging

Digital intercom built for correctional use, integrated with doors and cameras.

AE designs, installs and programs intercom and paging systems, including our own intercom control panels. We integrate MicroComm digital intercom from Harding Instruments, built for the demands of correctional facilities.

At the Ohio State Penitentiary we installed a Harding IP intercom system with more than 1,000 intercoms, and at Summit County Jail in Akron we retrofitted more than 500 stations.

Access control

Card access for staff and administration areas, tied into facility lockdown.

We install and program Genetec and Avigilon card access systems.

Card access controls staff movement through administration, support and perimeter doors, and reports into the same control room as the detention doors.

We retrofit around existing card populations and readers where it makes sense, so a facility is not forced to re-badge everyone on day one.

Key management

Electronic key cabinets that log who took each key and when.

AE supplies and installs KeyWatcher electronic key cabinets. Each user can remove only the keys they are permitted to, and every removal and return is logged. At Dayton Correctional Institution we installed a system managing 350 keys.

Fiber and network

The fiber backbone that links remote PLC racks to master control.

Every system above rides on the network. AE designs and installs the fiber optic backbone and Ethernet infrastructure between housing units and master control, with redundancy where the facility requires it.
